Euthanasia: David & marcus
Euthanasia is a problem that has prospered since being legalized in the United States. Euthanasia is the intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for his or her alleged benefit; Therefore, if it isn’t a planned death than it isn’t an act of euthanasia. There are typically two sides to this debate and that is whether or whether not it should be legalized. The people that are on the side for it being legalized usually argue that it is a way to relieve extreme pain especially when a person’s quality of life is low, frees up medical funds to help other people, and that it is another case of freedom of choice. The side that debates otherwise usually argues that it devalues human life, causes people to be directly involved in causing death, and that it can become a means of health care cost suppression. Well these are two more stances that I take in euthanasia which is suicidal, and the death penalty. If euthanasia is okay then what is wrong with someone committing suicide? A suicidal person has the freedom of choice to do what he/she believes, but does it devalue human life to commit to your own death intentionally? At least in this aspect no one has to contribute to your death. Why suicide is looked so down upon when it is the same thing as euthanasia. How about the death penalty? People argue so much about it being right or as justice, but is this really right? What gives mankind the right to choose who dies or lives because of their wrong doing? Well this is an act of euthanasia, but the more brutal side that no one likes to argue. Any person that is religious should probably be against euthanasia right? Well put yourself in the position that forces you to either kill someone close to you that wants to be killed or not. What would you do? If you would commit to doing it why is that reason? If you have strong religious beliefs isn’t this going against it?

  1. I can see how people with strong religious beliefs would be against Euthanasia. They have a high value of life. However, religious people tend to believe in the afterlife as well. Wouldn't people without religious beliefs have a higher value of life because they did not believe in the afterlife? Regardless, whether the victims of the situation (the person wanting to die, and the person committing the act) are religious or not, it does not take away from the magnitude of the situation. Obviously, life has become to painful for the person to die. Whether it be physical, or emotional, they see no hope in going on with their lives. Personally, if it was a loved one of mine I would not do it. Not because I am religious, but because I am not so sure about an afterlife. All i know is that they were given a life, and that life was a gift. They have a chance to think, to breathe, to be conscious. WIthout life, there is no consciousness. THis is unfathomable to my understanding, and even though it may be so painful of a life that this person would not want to go on, I do not believe they are using their correct judgement. I believe nobody in their "right mind" would ever commit suicide or want to be euthanized. I believe that they are undergoing excrutiating pain either mentally or physically, and most of the time BOTH, that hinders their ability to make proper decisions if they were in the "right mind". The "right mind" fears death, and anything that comes after it. This is why religious people are so adement about not killing- subconsciously they fear death. I am one of these people and I value life. I can see how one would want to euthanize a loved one because its better to be taken by a person that the victim knows very well and loves. However, if I was ever asked to euthanize somebody, I would just tell them to go on drugs like a morphine drip or psychadelics to make their lives atleast SEEM better than they really were. Atleast, by the time the drugs wear off they are either dead naturally, or have a better perspective on life. Actually, a cancer facility in Utah gives their terminally ill patients LSD to make their perspective on life better. It gives them some sort of "Epiphone". Euthanasia and taking people's lives is a serious matter, and i do not agree with it.
